At Confidante, we believe privacy is an act of care.
You're trusting us with deeply personal moments—reflections, emotions, and questions that deserve tenderness and protection. We're here to honor that trust. We built Confidante with empathy at its core, and that extends to how we handle your data.
With care,
Ariel & Tara
Co-Founders, Confidante

This policy explains:
What information we collect (and what we don’t)
How we use, store, and protect that information
What choices and rights you have
How third-party services (like AI APIs) fit in
It applies to your use of the Confidante app—including web and mobile versions—and any interactions or communications related to the app. It does not apply to offline interactions or third-party platforms we link to.
When using Confidante, you may share:
Your name, email, or profile preferences
Personal reflections or journaling submitted through chat
Form inputs or values-based choices
Feedback, survey responses, or messages to our team
These inputs help personalize your experience and improve our emotional support tools.
✨ Reminder: Confidante is not a medical tool or therapist. Your messages are for emotional exploration, not clinical evaluation.
We may collect:
Device and usage data (e.g., browser type, IP address, session duration)
Log and diagnostic information (e.g., errors, feature use)
Optional location data (only if enabled)
This helps us understand how Confidante is working and where we can improve.
Confidante uses OpenAI (and may in the future use Anthropic or similar providers) to power select chat features. When you message our AI chat, we may securely transmit de-identified or anonymized inputs to these APIs so they can generate a response.
We do not send your full name or email address to AI partners.
We only work with API partners who:
Respect user privacy
Allow enterprise-grade controls
Are aligned with our values of maternal safety and dignity
You can view OpenAI’s privacy practices here: https://openai.com/privacy
We may use your information to:
Deliver personalized responses and reflections
Improve our AI safety and quality
Understand trends (e.g., what topics mothers are exploring)
Provide customer support
Fulfill any legal or contractual obligations
We may use de-identified data for research, analytics, or model fine-tuning—always in a way that cannot be traced back to you.
We do not sell your data. Ever.
To operate Confidante, we use trusted infrastructure partners, including:
OpenAI (AI generation)
Auth0 (user auth)
MongoDB (database)
Slack (optional community)
Contentful/Formful (content delivery & forms)
Stripe (payment processing)
These services are bound by confidentiality and security obligations consistent with industry standards.
We use modern security protocols including:
Encrypted transmission (HTTPS)
Secure database storage
Role-based access control
Activity logging for audit
While no system is infallible, we regularly review and improve our security measures to help protect your data.
You’re responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. If you suspect unauthorized access, please contact us immediately.
We retain your data:
As long as your account is active
Or as needed to comply with legal obligations
Or until you ask us to delete it
You can request deletion at any time (see "Your Rights").
Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws like GDPR or CCPA, including:
Accessing your data
Requesting correction or deletion
Withdrawing consent
Opting out of certain types of processing
To exercise any of these rights, email info@confidantemoms.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.
